I am a cultural and environmental historian of modern Britain and Scandinavia, with a particular focus on travel, tourism, and leisure. I consider how these subjects connect to European empires, with my current research concerning British travel writing about the Arctic in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
I recently completed my PhD in the Department of History at Durham University, where I was also a member of the DurhamARCTIC research centre.
Before joining Durham, I studied for a BA at the University of York, followed by an MA at University College London (SSEES). My previous research has also looked at histories of travel and exploration, particularly mountaineering.
